SueEllen Alfred Cookeville, TN “Writing Your Way to the Spirit” Sometimes writing is the best way to get in touch with our Inner Power. In this session, we will write freely, concentrating on ideas and feelings rather than on writing conventions. In that kind of free writing, what we think and/or feel can travel from our brains and hearts, down our arms through our fingers, through our pens and onto the page. And on that page, sometimes we read ideas, feelings, prayers, and insights we did not know were there until we wrote them down. Often, these ideas can represent messages from our inner spirit who can guide us in the way we should go, if we listen to her. (Participants will want to bring journal and a pen)
Amber Grey Waynesville NC “Welcoming Your Wise Woman Within” Join Amber on a guided meditation to visit the Wise Woman Within Each of Us. Meeting with this inner Wise One is powerful and empowering and --always-- a loving and nurturing guide to doing The Next Right Thing. Afterwards, you can share with your Serenity Sisters (or not) and create a memento of your visit within.
Lucia Ellis Atlanta, GA “Listening from the Inside Out” You don’t have to be a writer to enjoy the recovery benefits of putting pen to paper. Through guided visualizations and inspiring writing exercises, we will explore a practice that can strengthen your serenity, improve your intuition, and develop your trust in a Higher Power. Paper and pens will be provided, or bring your favorites.
Ellen Hitchcock Oak Ridge, TN “Attending To The Moment: Listen To Your Inner Guide” Step 10 calls us to a deeper understanding of who we are and how we move in the world. Embracing the spiritual practice of “self-observation” is essential to long term recovery and requires great strength and courage. We are all in relationship one-to-another; what we do to others, we do to ourselves. Be a good tracker of how you show up in your life on a daily basis. Look into your own heart, make “honest” self-assessments, and take purposeful actions to self-correct, when needed, so you continue to experience the great transformation promised in the 12-steps of recovery.
Tracy Mise Atlanta, GA “Prayer & Meditation: It Works, It Really Does!” If it works, then why don't we meditate? You will gain simple tools and techniques in this seminar to quite the Alcoholic Ego.
Harriet "Happy" Wall Roswell, GA “Discovering our True Voice” True sobriety is found through the journey of self-discovery. How do we even start? The Steps offer an outline. The more emotional, deeper patterns which shape our lives can be difficult to discover. We will utilize effective tools to help in this intricate journey to hearing and honoring our 'Soul's' voice.
Ellen Wolfe Cookeville, TN “Satisfy Your Hunger Through Life Coaching” Explore the possibilities by discovering what you want, what is missing, what needs to shift and what you are willing to do to find recovery from your addictive behavior. This session will teach you how to cultivate awareness and empower yourself by embracing your food choices. You will learn how the principals of life coaching work to eliminate the need for diets. Handouts and models will be provided.

The Peace of Wild Things: Cultivating the Art of Happiness Diane Lemieux Ever wonder what it's like to go on a silent meditation retreat? Treat yourself to an afternoon of silence, of coming home to yourself. In this workshop we will explore simple mindfulness meditation and healing qi gong techniques. Cultivating these practices over time inclines our minds to more wholesome states of serenity and equanimity, "the peace of wild things" as Wendell Berry describes in his poem. When we are in our natural state, our minds are more conscious, calm, creative, and contented allowing us to become more aware of joy and happiness in our daily lives. This session will be held in silence with a time to process the experience and ask questions in community at the end.
